So last night I figure it's a long shot but type in Madeline's name and city in ancestry and the first result is the 1930 census showing her as the daughter of a Michael and Catherine Keturokis. I won't bore you with all the details but realized that Madeline's father Michael was a nephew of my great-great-grandmother.
Hours later I traced the family from PA (where my line is) to Iowa and find poor Madeline lost her brother Julian when he was 16 years old after he entered an abandoned mine in 1934. Her other brother, Benny, was accused and convicted of rape later the same year. Benny coached and played football in prison (there are newspaper articles!) later was paroled and married and had one child - she sadly died of pneumonia at age 9.
All from one scrap of paper that someone placed in a small book - that amazingly stayed in that book in it's travels from my grandmother's home in PA to my home in NJ and then to GA. Ironically, Madeline, the one whose name started it all, I have the least info about but still working on it.
