Colborn Family Stories
Colborn/Colburn Ancestors
It is believed that Robert Melville Colborn (see below) is descended from Sarah Hoagland and John Colborn, brother of Robert Colborn, a Revolutionary War veteran. It also is believed that John and Robert Colborn's parents were Michael Colborn and Sarah Mitchell but I'm still working to confirm these beliefs.
For those researching the Colborn line, the following bible transcriptions might be of interest. They were obtained from Stewart R. Saylor, a volunteer for the Berlin Area Historical Society, who is working hard to place Dr. Ezra Clayton Saylor's transcriptions of family documents in Somerset County, PA online. Please note that two of these bible transcriptions have John Colborn married to Elizabeth or Sarah Skinner instead of Sarah Hoagland. So far, there is no explanation for this.
