To ensure this family line gets due credit, and to preserve this information for future generations, I am applying to the Daughters of the American Revolution.
We are descended from George through his wife, Alida Schuyler (also from a big Revolutionary War family). And the direct descent from them is as follows:
1. Gertrude Herkimer (daughter of George Herkimer & Alida Schuyler) married Jacob I. Eacker
2. Anna Gertrude Eacker (daughter of Jacob I. Eacker & Gertrude Herkimer) married Lester Wilcox
3. William Henry Harrison Wilcox (son of Lester Wilcox & Anna Gertrude Eacker) married second wife, Martha Frances Price
4. Mabel Frances Wilcox (daughter of William Henry Harrison Wilcox & Martha Frances Price) married Melvin Russell Colborn
5. Marion Janice Colborn (daughter of Melvin Russell Colborn and Mabel Frances Wilcox) married Millard Koehler
6. Stephen Koehler and Karen Koehler Housel - the children of Millard Koehler & Marion Janice Colborn
Let's not forget that William H.H. Wilcox was a Civil War veteran and part of a famous escape from a terrible confederate prison. To learn more about him, go here.
Also, thanks to modern technology, you can see where all these people are buried without having to travel.
William H.H. Wilcox (grandma Janice Koehler's grandfather) is buried in Fairmount Cemetery, NJ with his second wife and family:
William's parents, Anna Gertrude Eacker Wilcox and Lester Wilcox are buried in the posh Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY along with William's first wife, Emily, and their children. Unfortunately there are no grave markers but if you'd like to see photos of the cemetery, go to www.green-wood.com
Our Revolutionary War ancestor, George Herkimer is buried in the Herkimer family cemetery in Herkimer County, NY. George's brother, Nicholas Herkimer is buried nearby.
William H.H. Wilcox's brothers, Herkimer E. and Albert E., and grandmother, Gertrude Eacker(mistakenly noted as Acker) are buried in the old Palatine Bridge Cemetery. His brothers sadly died very young, one under a year and the other 16 years old.
